Along with Matt's "just for fun" show, he
also offers a special school assembly program that uses juggling as
a catalyst to convey an environmental message about the importance of
the balance between use and conservation. The ideas of reducing, reusing,
and recycling are brought to them in an educational and fun way. Matt
involves the students at every turn by calling them up to help him with
an environmentally themed stunt: whether it is helping him balance a
stack of recyclable cereal boxes or cheering him on as he reduces the
size of the objects he’s juggling from huge beanbags chairs all
the way down to tiny marbles. Most of these routines are choreographed
to up-beat tunes that will have the students engaged and excited. Finally,
at the end of the show, Matt brings the message all together with an
old vaudevillian routine using juggler’s cigar boxes. Chants of
“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!” will be heard all throughout the
school.
As a follow up to the "just for fun" show
or the environmental show, Matt can get all of the students involved
in hands-on workshops. This part is completely optional and can only
be purchased in conjunction with a show. This is where the kids can
get a real feel for the circus arts. Matt will bring enough equipment
for up to 75 kids at a time to be involved with a circus skill. He will
break the group down into three stations, each with a different prop:
balancing peacock feathers, spinning plastic plates, and juggling scarves.
